This work reinterprets the history of the Spirit of Ecstasy, the iconic Rolls-Royce hood ornament, through Lazarus’s ongoing investigation of femininity, desire, and visual culture. A branching tree functions as the central structural framework, organizing layered imagery of luxury, landscape, and fantasy. References to the coastline, vintage automobiles, the female form, and symbolic motifs such as lips, wings, and headlights merge to examine how attraction and status are constructed through cultural narratives and consumption. As in her broader practice, the body dissolves into landscape and object, revealing the instability between image, identity, and desire.
