The Figure is Ground
Created between 2022 and 2026, these paintings reflect seeing the world through connection. In Figure is Ground, the female body and the landscape become reflections of one another, exploring perception, intimacy, identity, and belonging. Trees appear throughout the work as symbols of connection, growth, and belonging, while the figure represents vulnerability and the courage to trust oneself. Together, these paintings invite viewers to consider the relationships between ourselves, nature, and the environments that shape us.
